Christopher Proto , DVM

Prior to completing his veterinary medical training, Dr. Proto earned a masters degree in human genetics from the University of Pittsburgh and spent 8 years working in clinical genetics as a counselor and teacher. Dr Proto graduated from St. Georges University in Grenada with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He completed his clinical training at the University of Tennessee. He started working for Mahopac Animal Hospital that year and stayed on as an associate doctor for 9 years. During that time he participated in extensive continuing education including advanced ultrasound courses, endoscopy courses and orthopedic surgical techniques laboratories. Dr. Proto also served on the Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society board for four years including serving as the president during 2011. Dr. Proto is very excited to be starting his own veterinary practice in Pawling, NY and is looking forward to serving the community and taking wonderful care of all of the family pets. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife Whitney, their two children and their dog Chloe.

Whitney Will , DVM

Dr. Will joined the Peace Corps directly after completing her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and spent two years doing agricultural extension work in Niger, West Africa. Upon returning home she completed a masters degree in animal science at the University of Tennesee. Dr. Will graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Immediately after graduation she pursued a large animal internship at the University of Minnesota for one year. After completing the internship she took a position as an associate doctor with Fairfield Equine Associates where she worked for five years as an equine veterinarian. Upon leaving Fairfield Equine Associates Dr. Will switched to companion animal medicine and worked at Otterkill Animal Hospital for over three years. After changing to companion animal medicine Dr. Will pursued certification in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi institute in Reddick, FL where she took the course in mixed animals including dogs, cats, and horses. Dr. Will is very excited to be offering veterinary acupunture to appropriate patients and continues to do house call appointments as well as in hospital treatments. Dr. Will is also extremely excited to be starting a new practice in Pawling NY and is looking forward to meeting all of the local families and their pets.

Katherine Faitakes, LVT

Katie has had a love for all animals since she was a small child. She studied Veterinary Science Technology at SUNY Delhi and received her Associates degree in 1998. Katie immediately started working at Mahopac Animal Hospital in 1998 and worked there until 2010. Katie is known for her leadership, hard work, and her compassion for animals. She is also a proud mother to 4 wonderful children who also share her love of animals.

Samanth Ferris, Veterinary Technician

Sam grew up around all different types of animals and has always enjoyed working with them. One of her past jobs included working on a farm. She is currently attending the Veterinary Technician Program at SUNY Ulster and is working towards becoming a licensed technician. She is excited to learn as much as she can in the veterinary field. In her free time she likes to hang out with her family and golden retriever Charlie.
